SOUTH AFRICAN EMBASSY HOSTS THE 2ND EDITION OF FOOD, WINE AND CULTURAL FESTIVAL AND ENERGY SEMINAR IN TOARMINA

.

The South African Embassy in Rome will host its National Day through a high-profile food, wine and cultural festival and a Business Seminar in Taormina, Sicily, Italy, from 22 to 24 September 2017. The Embassy hosted a similar Festival last year, which was a huge success.

This year, the Festival is very special because the Embassy decided to celebrate South Africa’s National Day with the People of Taormina in a year that has been declared the Year of an iconic struggle veteran of South Africa, Oliver Reginald Tambo.

The Festival is supported by the Municipality of Taormina as well as the Branch: Public Diplomacy of the South African Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation. South African cuisine and wines will be showcased to the public on each day of the Festival. South Africa’s popular band, Micasa, and the female singer, Ms Thandi Ndlazi, will perform on in a concert on the evening of 23 September 2017 to an audience of locals as well as the many tourists who visit Sicily in large numbers at this time of the year.

The programme will include a Business Seminar on 22 September 2017, on opportunities for investment in the South African energy sector. The seminar is a demonstration of the willingness of the Embassy to partner with the Italian business community in various fields, in all parts of Italy today, tomorrow and in the future.

The South African Embassy is increasing its footprint in Italy through this Festival and intends to continue working to further strengthen and expand economic and cultural exchanges in all parts of the country.
