Bologna Interclub Rotary MANDELA Lecture

Ambassador Soni also delivered a Nelson Mandela lecture entitled “Nelson Mandela’s figure in the 100th

Anniversary of his birth” organized by Rotary Club Felsinei on 15 July 2018. The topic was introduced by

Dr. Giancarlo Roversi.

The event was initiated by South Africa’s Honorary Consul in Bologna, Adv. Luigi Belvederi and hosted by

the Rotary Club. In his address, Ambassador Soni emphasized the significance and importance of the Nel-

son Mandela and Albertina Sisulu Centenaries and how South Africans are working to honour their memo-

ries and legacies. He also noted that Centenary celebrations are taking place all over the world. About 100

members attended the highly successful event. Ambassador Soni also used the opportunity to invite the

Rotary Club to partner with a Rotary Club in South Africa.

In concluding his remarks, Ambassador Soni presented commemorative plaques to the Club, in recognition

of Rotary’s commitment to eradicating polio from the world, including Africa, and for Rotary’s contribution to

the development of the people of South Africa. The plaque was very well received.
