South African Food, Wine and Cultural Festival in Taormina

The South African Embassy in Rome, in collaboration with the Municipality of Taormina, hosted a high-
profile food, wine and cultural festival from 1 to 2 October 2016.
South Africa was very visible in Taormina over these two wonderful days of celebration. The festival includ-
ed two performances by the popular South African band, Mafikizolo, on the main town square, which were a
real treat for the large audiences that
gathered to enjoy their performances.

country has to offer was served on
the main square as well as at several
tasting stalls along the main historic
pedestrian walkway of the town, pre-
pared by renowned South African
Chefs, starring Chef Mokgadi and
Sasha from the South African Embas-
sy in Rome. A beer garden and a wine tasting experience, featuring great South African wines, along with
colourful tourism promotion stands across town, made up the other highlights of the festival.
The food, wine and cultural festival will be held again in mid-September 2017 and promises to be an even

The Embassy and Festival della Diplomatia co-host a seminar
on investing in Human Capital in Africa

On 27 October 2016, the Embassy co-hosted a seminar themed “Investing in human capital in Africa” with
Festival della Diplomazia. The seminar was addressed by the Ambassadors of Zimbabwe and Lesotho, the
South African Chargé d’Affaires, other Members of the Diplomatic Corps as well as representatives of the
Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and private Italian companies. Various speakers made
