Visit by the Gauteng Provincial Legislature Portfolio Committee on
Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture
The Portfolio Committee on Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture delegation visited Rome and Florence
from 07 to14 October 2017. In Florence, Honorary Consul Riccardo Sarra provided the necessary support.
The delegation visited the Nelson Mandela Forum, where they were briefed on how the exhibition museum
was named after Nelson Mandela. The delegation also visited the Marangoni Fashion Institute and various
art galleries in in the City, as well as the Vatican Museum in Rome. The highly successful visits provided an
opportunity for the delegation to benchmark and learn more about the practices used in Florence, in particu-
lar, in promoting sport, recreation, the Arts and culture.
