THE FIFTH EDITION OF ARP TAKES OFF WITH A NEW CULTURAL-ARTISTIC EXCHANGE
BETWEEN ITALY AND SOUTH AFRICA
The Centro Luigi Di Sarro of Rome and the Everard Read Gallery of Cape Town partnered
together for a Residency Project that took place in Rome for a period of one month.
With support from the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs
and International Cooperation (MAECI) and moral pat-
ronage from the Embassy of South Africa in Rome, the
project is aimed at the cultural and artistic training of
young people under the age of 35 years.
In its fifth edition, the Residency Project invited Zwele-
thu Machepha – from Artist Proof Studios, to travel to
Rome to undertake the programme. The purpose of
the Project is to allow young, emerging artists – inter-
ested in learning new technics and languages – to live in the country of
the Residency while they create their own projects influenced by their
Zwelethu Machepha,Artist Proof Studio surroundings. This fifth edition benefits from MAECI financing and pro-
vides a broader
program of activities with a greater number of young
people involved. In addition to the artist; the Project
has extended itself to include other specialists, i.e.
filmmakers, photographers, curators and art histori-
ans.

Il Centro Luigi Di Sarro di Roma e la Everard Read Gallery di Città del Capo hanno collaborato a un Resi-
dency Project, che ha avuto luogo a Roma nell’arco di un mese.
Con il contributo del MAECI, Ministero Italiano per gli Affari Esteri e la Cooperazione Internazionale, e sotto
il patrocinio dall'Ambasciata del Sudafrica in Italia, il progetto mira alla formazione culturale e artistica di gio-
vani under 35.
Alla sua quinta edizione, in base al Residency Project il giovane Zwelethu Machepha degli Artist Proof Stu-
dios è stato invitato a Roma, città in cui si svolgeva il programma previsto.
Scopo del progetto è di permettere a giovani artisti emergenti, interessati ad apprendere nuove tecniche e
linguaggi, di risiedere in un paese realizzando nel contempo il loro progetti sotto l’influenza dall’ambiente
che li circonda.
Questa quinta edizione beneficia di un finanziamento del MAECI e prevede un più ampio programma di atti-
vità con un numero maggiore di giovani coinvolti: oltre all’artista, infatti, il progetto si è ampliato, includendo
altri specialisti, quali cineasti, fotografi, curatori e storici dell'arte.
